week 22... and an independence day celebration

yesterday we celebrated america's birthday with the most perfect weather, in the most perfect city, with excellent company. for the past week, joey and i have been holding up residence in my brother and sister-in-law's spare bedroom, and surprisingly they aren't so tired of us yet that they couldn't spare a holiday afternoon to picnic and play with us all day.

we arrived at our picnic destination hungry and anxious to soak in as much sunshine  as possible. these guys are patiently waiting for the charcoal to prime in the grill, while visions of charred hotdogs danced in their heads.

yes, that is my handsome husband with intimidating biceps in the back. he can rock it.

jessie is training for a half marathon and realized a few days ago she'd developed  a hairline fracture in her foot. poor girl had to don one very stylish orthopedic boot in the not so cool weather yesterday.
we spent the afternoon at hidden falls in saint paul and grabbed dinner at eli's before fireworks. we had tickets to this fireworks cruise in saint paul for the evening, so we didn't have to fight crowds and worry about holding seats for a good view of the show. the view of saint paul from the  riverboat was absolutely stunning, and the fireworks from our seats were phenominal.

oh saint paul. we're sure going to miss you!
