h fought the crib for two days, and then promptly decided it wasn't worth his time. he still wakes in the night twice (at least) to be re-swaddled or feast on a light snack. he does.not, with a capital d, sleep when his arms have released themselves from the swaddler, as pictured above. so you can bet your pretty bottom huck is wide awake after a quick 10 minute nap in the photo above. you can also bet mother is not smiling behind her camera and is secretly praying those flailing arms and wide-open eyes are only an illusion. they were not. the good news (for me) is that he can usually be convinced to fall back in to a decent slumber with a re-swaddle and sometimes a quick 10 minute cuddle. and now you know.
mr. h still prefers his perch on the dining room table over all other inanimate locations. he especially loves to have both parents hovering fondly over his always fascinating self while he lays, or maybe his crazy parents are the ones who can't won't tear themselves away. we've been singing lots of toddler songs and getting almost-giggles if the mood strikes just right. henry has taken a special fondness to 'the itsy bitsy spider', and who can blame him?

| left: newborn henry. and now we know why he doesn't love tummy time. early trauma. right: 11 weeks and balder. |
since about six weeks, henry has been fighting a nasty case of cradle cap, and he still can't seem to kick it. i'll spare you the pictures, but suffice it to say we find loads of absolutely disgusting skin particles trailing his every step. to add to the mix, mother and son have started to lose their hair by the handfuls. henry has without a doubt the cuter of the two balding scalps, but those remaining tufts of hair just don't have the same effect as the flowing locks he had at birth.
and to top off this riveting update, we got some exciting news today that i'm anxious to share more about once i have all of the details. but i don't want to lead you on, it may not be as exciting for you as it is for me :) but come on back for the dirt in just a few short days.
