because we got married in august, right before school started and in the middle of a vivacious job search, we decided to forego a big honeymoon in favor of a small little northern minnesota get-away. we always knew we'd plan a larger-scale honeymoon later, but we were both more than content holing away for three days far removed from all the wedding planning, summer jobs, national guard annual training, and job searching that had completely worn us thin all summer long.
joey planned the whole weekend and i sat back to enjoy what i knew would be exactly what i needed.
and i have to tell you, that little mini-moon was exactly the thing to make me fall deep into gooshy love with my life and where i was at that moment. we breakfasted each more in the resort dining hall - a quaint, rustic dining room filled with happy vacationing families - and spent the day exploring the rocky shores of lake superior.
i had the most incredible time being married to my husband that weekend, and by the end of our stay we were completely refreshed and energized.
i don't know if the stars aligned in a perfect mix of newlywed bliss, perfectly crisp weather, and lovely summer sea-side views or if that spot really is the vessel to heaven but i would go back in a second to spend the rest of my life swimming in a pool of euphoria if i could - but alas, real life calls.
until next time lake superior. you are adamantly missed.
