we spent the weekend in chilly watertown, sd celebrating joey's guard promotion and relaxing. to be fair, joey spent the whole weekend at guard drill, so relaxing is a relative term i'm using to describe a weekend without normal work/school chaos. it was still plenty full, but there's something about hotel stays that always leave me feeling refreshed and somewhat spoiled. i'm easy to please ;)

the drive to watertown is just under 4 hours, this was the handsome view i got the entire drive back home. the patch on joey's chest (the one you can hardly see) was placed there by me during his pinning ceremony yesterday afternoon. it's his captain patch... because that's what he is now :) they read his bio, shook his hand, we swapped out his pin and patch, and the ceremony was over. very short and sweet, but it was cool to be there and be a part of the ceremony. as they read through his lengthy bio i was completely flooded with pride, this guy has done a lot in his short 29 years and i am so excited to see all of the amazing things he has in front of him. he's going places you guys!
in other exciting news, we have our first prenatal appointment this afternoon. we are extatic!
