lest we forget...

joey and i have been trying to soak up as much of saint paul/minneapolis as possible before we leave for virginia next tuesday. it's funny how slowly all of these moving plans came to be, we didn't even know we were moving for sure back in february, and now within the last week everything has fallen into place. we have a place to live (officially), we both have jobs waiting for us across the country, the u-haul is booked, and my last day of work at the university of minnesota is only a few days away. this is really happening!

on tuesday we spent some time with travis and jessie - along with their friends - enjoying the cool summer night. i sat out during the game (like a bum) because the last time i played kick ball i got hit in the face and i couldn't justify the risk at 25 weeks. i'm not normally opposed to sports injuries, and i was actually really antsy to play after watching a few innings,  but contact sports are out for me for a while - at least until my stomach no longer resembles the hard rubber ball they were lobbing at each other.

we got outside again last night to send our realtor some forms he needed to complete the lease agreement on the townhouse we'll be renting. we needed internet access and a scanner, of which our current residence has neither. we parked on the west bank of the umn campus and walked across the terrifying walking bridge to the east bank, where my office (and a scanner/internet access) is located. it was such a perfect night for a long walk, and campus doesn't provide the most terrible view in the world.

before we left the university, we popped into rapson hall (joey's home away from home for the past 3 years as he finished his architecture masters) to say one last goodbye. joey won the richard morrill award for his final masters project, and his boards are still on display in the lobby. he's the most genuinely modest person i've met in my life (which is one of the reasons i fell so hard for that guy), so he would never say how great it felt to win after the time and sweat he invested in his final, but he deserved it so, so much! i know i've said it over and over, but seriously! so lucky to have this man in my life.

this weekend we hope to get in as much of our favorite spots around the city as possible. i'm ready to move on and see what else this world has to offer us, but it's going to be a hard goodbye to this city we became a family in. we'll keep you posted on the journey.
